[The device clicks on to a dark room. A bed is positioned in the centre, where two figures sleep. After a few moments, the peace is interrupted by a high-pitch wail. Many may recognise it as the familiar cry of oh-god-I-am-a-baby-and-I-just-woke-up-alone-what-is-this? The figure nearest the camera rolls over, and is unmistakably the bleary-eyed face of Stephen Stills. He groans and shoves the figure next to him in the shoulder.]

Cas! Wake up. It's your turn. How the hell do you sleep through that, anyway?





[Ooc: FAMILY DAY CUUUUUUUURSE! So basically, a bunch of us got together and decided to make the most elaborate and ridiculous Family Day Curse ever. This family tree is This-a-way for those of you who are interested. For the cliffnotes - Poncho-Kun, Hanna, and Stephen are brothers. Stephen is married to Castiel and Rose Lalonde is their daughter. Dave Strider is Nameless Dude's bastard son via Hooker. Demyx may or may not be related to them all somehow but lives near by anyway. There will be various action threads for various times in their family history, but also feel free to video or audio post if you feel your char needs to WTF at this apparent new family. :-D]

[A very young Rose Lalonde is sat at the breakfast table, scowling slightly. She doesn't get why she has to go and be surrounded by other kids in order to learn when she could just as happily sit with a pile of books and be left alone.]

[Rose is currently still in her room, knitting some cuddly tentacled...thing. She'll be down when she's ready or when she's forced to be; for now she's happy in her own company]

[Conversely a slightly older looking Stephen Stills is in the kitchen with her. He turns around from the stove and slips an 'R' shaped pancake onto her plate.]

Voila! Turned out pretty good this time, don't you think?

[KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK. This is probably your Dad at the door, Rose. The Dad that understands boundaries, anyway.]

[Oh the disdain this little girl can summon when she has to. But it's that sort of disdain where she can't quite hide the smile even though she's really trying]

[Rose puts her knitting down and crosses to the door, opening it just enough to see who's there]

I suppose this is where I get ordered downstairs?

Come on, kiddo. kindergarten's not that bad. It's just for a few hours in the morning, and then Dad's going to come pick you up after lunch.

I prefer the term 'strongly encouraged'. We're having family meeting tonight, remember? Also, there's spaghetti.

Except encouraged makes it sound like I have a choice.

I'll be down in a minute. There's just something I have to finish up first.

Five minutes and counting, kiddo.

[Stephen pulls up a chair next to hers with his own pancake in hand.]

Kindergarten can be a lot of fun, Rose. You'll make new friends. And you guys get naptime and everything.

Plus, Dad needs you out of the house so I can get actual work done for once.

[A grin and an affectionate hair-ruffle go with that one.]

[Rolling her eyes so hard behind the door where he can't see her]

[He'll just be down here, trying to be a cool dad and letting her take her time, but also futzing over whether the pasta's getting cold.]

I can have naptime here too...why do I need to be out of the house? I can look after myself.

[Grouchy stabbing at pancakes. She won't make new friends. They'll all be dumb and stupid, she just knows it]

[Exactly four minutes and thirty seconds later, Rose is downstairs and heading for the dining room. If she's not the last down she's going to wonder what all the fuss was about]

I know that, kiddo. But unfortunately the eyes of the law disagree with us on that one.

[He drops an arm casually around the back of her chair as he gets to work on his own pancakes.]

You'll like school, Rose. There's lots of books there.

Maybe the law needs its eyes checked.

[But there's a tiny hint of curiosity as he mentions books. In a way that's trying so hard not to be but she has to ask anyway]

What kind of books?

[The table is set for three, but only two platefuls of spaghetti are set out. Stephen is still clattering around in the kitchen when Rose makes her way down.]

Your Dad called, he's going to be late with a work thing, so he said to go ahead. And Hanna might be stopping by later. Or not. Who knows, really.

I thought this was a family meeting? I didn't realise they were only not okay to miss if I was the one wishing to do so.

[He leans in to whisper conspiratorially.]

Every kind of book EVER. There's a whole library full of books you can take out for FREE without even having to bug one of your dads into taking you there.
